We come from a military family with several of us still in uniform, including Annapolis grads in the Navy, and two Marines. One of us has just returned from duty in Afghanistan, another just arrived in country in November 2010, and a second is due to arrive at Camp Leatherneck in January 2011.

 Those who came before us include veterans of: the First World War (Rainbow Division); the Second World War (Pearl Harbor on the USS Tennessee) and the beaches of Normandy (US Army Combat Engineers); the Cold War on Navy destroyers during Korea (1950) and Suez and Lebanon (1956-58); in the 1980’s in the Straits of Hormuz, the Adriatic, and Japan.
